Our core organizational philosophy can be summed up in 8 points, which make up a work manifesto of sorts.
- Where the individual meets the collective. Strong individual action combined with strong collective action can yield remarkable results and make the world a better place.
- If we build it, they will come. Creating an organizational culture conducive to strong individual and collective action will attract the types of individuals who will ensure our success.
- Individuals are free to pursue their own passions. In so doing, they will be able to rely upon a number of support mechanisms provided by the collective and designed to greatly enhance the individual's chances for success.
- Life passions and work passions cannot be separated. Maximizing a individual's ability to reach their full potential requires a work environment which values personal pursuits of happiness equally with career pursuits for success.
- One size fits all. Our theory of change and strategic vision will require people who share common characteristics-- the type of people who get things done. Our Agents for Social Change, therefore, will share certain many innate traits and learned skill sets.
- One title fits all. Steep hierarchies have their place in monarchies and bureaucracies, not in the most productive social change environments. All employees are Agents of Social Change-- nothing more, nothing less.
- The world is flat, and so is the office place. -- or perhaps we should say the lack of an office place. Tom Friedman famously chronicled the way technology has altered the way multinationals operate and compete in the 21st century global marketplace. At Global Gain, we don't care where our Agents for Social Change are located so long as they're producing results.
- Eye one the ball. What workplace manifesto would be complete without at least one cliche sports analogy? "Eye on the ball" refers to the need for Global Gain's Agents for Social Change to never lose sight of the ultimate goal behind our work-- significantly improved lives for poor and marginalized groups around the globe.
The essence of this manifesto is to promote a common work culture that melds the power of collective action with individual pursuits to promote social justice in ways we each see fit. It is this level of flexibility, combined with an environment of shared support that we believe will enable Global Gain's Agents for Social Change to maximize their unique strengths, talents and ability to effect positive change around the globe.
